The wealth of Rishi Sunak and his spouse Akshata Murty is well known. But how rich exactly?
According to estimates, the couple is twice as wealthy as King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla. They rank among the 250 richest individuals or families in the United Kingdom.
Sunak will now rank among the wealthiest residents of No. 10 Downing Street in history.
Sunak, the oldest of three children, received his education at Winchester College, a premium boarding school that charges 43,335 pounds a year to attend.
NR Narayana Murthy, Sunak’s father-in-law, was a founding partner of the 1980s software powerhouse Infosys. The giant in outsourcing is currently valued at over $75 billion.
Akshata Murty is richer than the late Queen Elizabeth II, whose personal wealth was estimated by the 2021 Sunday Times Rich List to be around $460 million, because of her ownership of Infosys, which is worth over $700 million.
Together, the two are valued at almost $800 million. Comparatively, the combined fortune of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla is thought to be between $340 and $395 million.
The British media has taken note of the couple’s extravagant lifestyle at a time when the average person is struggling.
Reports stated that they were investing £400,000 in a pool for their country home in August.
Sunak’s competitors have criticized him for wearing pricey suits and for once wearing a pair of $550 Prada loafers to a building site.
At least four properties are owned by Murty and Sunak, one of which is a five-bedroom property in Kensington, London, valued at close to $8 million. Additionally, they have a condo in Santa Monica, California.
Before founding her own design line, Akshata Designs, in 2010, she dabbled in marketing and banking.
Akshata is frank about having a right-of-center outlook on the economy.
Murty collaborates with artists in far-flung communities to produce clothing that is a “vehicle to discovering Indian culture,” according to a 2011 Vogue article.
