On Thursday, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha gave an explanation for his silence about the nationwide controversy surrounding the NEET paper leak. The former AAP leader stated, “media soundbites but need an institutional solution” are insufficient to manage such situations in a heated speech during the discussion on the anti-paper leak bill. After switching from the Opposition to the Treasury benches, the 37-year-old said that his role had changed and he was now focused on finding answers, taking a jab at the Congress and his former party, AAP.
Speaking to the House, Chadha noted that a lot of people had asked why he hadn’t discussed the NEET paper leak. He claimed that while he was on the opposition side, he did an honest job by bringing up issues that the nation’s residents were facing, but that his role has now changed.
“Earlier, when I was in the Opposition, it was my job to raise questions, and I did it honestly. Now I am on the treasury benches, so my role has changed. My responsibility is no longer to ask questions but to provide solutions,” he said.
Chadha added that he does not need headlines or to mark attendance by speaking in front of the cameras, but rather the outcome. “I had made a promise to myself that I would speak about the matter in Parliament only when we could bring a solution and when the system is being fixed. And today is that historic day when the system is being fixed,” he said.
Additionally, the 37-year-old MP told the impacted and demonstrating pupils that their annoyance was understandable. He went on to say that for a NEET candidate, writing a paper opens the door to a better future for his family. Chadha explained his position by saying that in order to pass the test, candidates relocate to distant locations like Delhi and Kota, among others, make sacrifices in their social and familial lives, and use their parents’ money to pay for coaching facilities.

“When students expressed their concerns, the Prime Minister listened to them like a guardian and changed the system. For the first time, our government has brought a comprehensive framework to tackle paper leaks. When it came to students, the government listened and acted,” Chadha said.
