Major Crackdown on Cross-Border ; Drug Syndicate in West Bengal Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda

Kolkata: In a strong move against narcotics trafficking, West Bengal authorities have dealt a significant blow to an interstate and cross-border drug syndicate. The Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda District Police executed a successful joint operation resulting in the arrest of key members of the gang.

This follows the arrest last month of notorious smuggler Mridul Ghosh. Subsequent investigations led to the capture of his close associate, Pintu Sarkar, along with two other accomplices. A coordinated raid was carried out at a location in Mangalbari under the jurisdiction of Malda Police Station.

During the raid, police seized cash amounting to ₹2.4 crores, thousands of bottles of cough syrup with an estimated black market value of ₹90 lakhs, and approximately 20 grams of gold. These sizeable recoveries underscore the magnitude of the illegal operation.

Interrogations are currently in progress as officials work to dismantle the entire drug network and bring all responsible individuals to justice. Authorities have reiterated West Bengal’s firm stance on maintaining a zero tolerance policy toward drugs, crime, and illegal syndicates.

The government has assured citizens that no part of the state will be used by criminal organizations. Continuous intensive raids are being conducted along border areas to safeguard public safety. Officials warn that those involved in illegal drug activities will face strict legal action without exception.

This decisive action reflects West Bengal’s commitment to protecting its youth and maintaining law and order across the state. The cooperation between district police forces has proven effective in tackling complex criminal networks operating in the region.
