Jharkhand Student Protest Over Alleged Recruitment Exam Irregularities Gains Momentum

The ongoing protest by students over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has intensified, with demonstrators stepping up their agitation in Ranchi. The protesters are demanding a fair investigation into the alleged discrepancies, cancellation of the disputed examinations, and measures to ensure transparency in the state’s recruitment process.

Students have continued their sit-in protest at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, which has become the focal point of the agitation. The demonstrators allege that irregularities in the recruitment examinations have compromised the integrity of the selection process, affecting the future of thousands of job aspirants. They have called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter and strict action against those found responsible for any wrongdoing.

The movement has gathered momentum ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Jharkhand Assembly, with student organisations planning to intensify their demonstrations. Protest leaders have announced plans to march towards the Assembly to draw the attention of lawmakers and the state government to their demands. The students maintain that transparency and accountability are essential for restoring confidence in the recruitment system and ensuring equal opportunities for candidates.

The issue has sparked widespread concern among aspirants preparing for government jobs, many of whom have joined the protest in support of the demand for a credible and impartial investigation. The protesters argue that alleged lapses in the examination process have undermined merit-based recruitment and created uncertainty for candidates awaiting appointments.

Responding to the growing agitation, the Jharkhand government has expressed its willingness to engage with the protesting students. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has constituted a high-level committee under Higher and Technical Education Minister Sudivya Kumar to hold discussions with student representatives and examine their grievances. The committee has been tasked with interacting with stakeholders and submitting recommendations aimed at resolving the dispute.

The government has indicated that it is committed to addressing the concerns raised by the students through dialogue while ensuring that the recruitment process remains fair and transparent. Officials have urged the protesters to maintain peace and cooperate during the discussions.
