Bankura, West Bengal: West Bengal marked a significant milestone in its healthcare sector with the successful implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, as the first patient registration under the scheme was completed at Medicare General Hospital in Kotulpur, Bankura.

The launch is expected to expand access to cashless and quality healthcare for eligible beneficiaries across the state, reducing the financial burden associated with medical treatment.

The initiative is being positioned as an important step towards strengthening West Bengal’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring greater accessibility to advanced medical services, particularly for economically vulnerable sections of society.

The development follows the state government’s commitment to extending the benefits of the Centre’s flagship healthcare programme to eligible residents. Supporters of the initiative described the first registration as a landmark moment in the state’s healthcare journey, with the broader objective of ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent citizens from accessing necessary medical care.
