Rajasthan Tightens School Entry Rules After CJP Announces Inspection Drive

Correspondent Ajay Chowdhury / 18th August 2026

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has tightened access to government schools, restricting entry of outsiders without prior permission from the principal and prohibiting photography and videography without written approval.

The move came hours after Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convener Ashutosh Ranka announced plans to inspect government schools allegedly suffering from poor infrastructure and inadequate facilities. He said requests had been received from several districts, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota and Bharatpur.

A circular issued by Director of Secondary Education Lalit Kumar said the restrictions were intended to protect the safety, dignity, privacy and welfare of children. Citing Article 21 of the Constitution, Supreme Court privacy guidelines and NCPCR recommendations, the department said schools must remain safe and child-friendly spaces.

Only duly authorised government officials will be permitted entry without prior approval, while all visitors must record their details in the school visitor register.
