News Mania Desks/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 22nd August 2026

A confrontation broke out between villagers and members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) during an attempt by the political group to inspect a government school in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district, highlighting growing tensions over the entry of outsiders into government educational institutions. The incident took place in Rampura-Kanwarpura village near Bagru, where members of the CJP had arrived as part of their “School Thik Karo” campaign.

The initiative involves visits to government schools to assess infrastructure, classroom facilities and other basic amenities, while drawing attention to shortcomings that the party believes require government intervention.

According to reports, the visit quickly turned confrontational after local residents objected to the team’s presence. Villagers allegedly confronted the CJP members and forced them to leave the area. The main road leading towards the village was also reportedly barricaded, preventing the activists from returning to the school.

The incident has since generated a political controversy, with competing claims emerging from the two sides over what led to the confrontation. Members of the CJP have alleged that they faced opposition because of their efforts to inspect the condition of government schools and raise questions about the availability of facilities for students.

CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka has criticised the authorities over the incident and raised questions about the circumstances in which the team was prevented from carrying out its proposed inspection. The party has also alleged that political supporters were involved in opposing its campaign. Villagers, however, have contested the allegations made by the CJP representatives. The local residents have questioned the manner in which the team entered the area and objected to outsiders conducting inspections at a government school without the involvement or approval of local authorities.

The dispute comes against the backdrop of the Rajasthan government’s decision to regulate access to government schools. Authorities have previously restricted the entry of outsiders into school premises without prior permission, citing concerns relating to student safety and privacy. The regulations have become a point of contention as political groups and activists seek to examine conditions at government-run institutions.

The CJP’s “School Thik Karo” campaign has sought to use school visits to highlight infrastructure-related issues and put pressure on the administration to address deficiencies. However, the latest incident illustrates the challenges political organisations can face when attempting to conduct inspections independently.

The confrontation has also raised questions about the balance between public scrutiny of government institutions and the need to maintain authorised access to schools. While political groups argue that visits can help expose shortcomings and bring public attention to education-related problems, authorities and local residents have stressed the importance of following established procedures.

Police and local administration officials are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and determine whether any action is required. The episode has added to the ongoing political debate in Rajasthan over government schools, their infrastructure and the role of political organisations in monitoring public institutions.
