Bengal to Support Defence Investments; ₹3,400 Crore Projects Launched in Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari

Kolkata, West Bengal: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the West Bengal government will extend full cooperation to attract defence sector investment, manufacturing and recruitment in the state. He made the remarks while highlighting his discussions with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Adhikari said that after assuming office, he had met Singh and raised Bengal’s expectations regarding *defence investments and employment opportunities. According to the Chief Minister, Singh subsequently visited the state for the *bhumi pujan of five defence-related projects worth ₹3,400 crore, marking a significant investment in West Bengal.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s decision to provide 20% reservation for Agniveers in the police, fire brigade, forest department and civil defence services.

Adhikari further assured that land would not be a hurdle for major defence manufacturing projects, with the state government ready to provide necessary support and cooperation.

The developments are expected to strengthen West Bengal’s defence manufacturing ecosystem, create employment opportunities and boost industrial investment in the state.
