Indian Navy to Induct Indigenous Diving Support Vessel ‘Nipun’ on August 31

The Indian Navy is set to formally induct ‘Nipun’, its second indigenously built Diving Support and Submarine Rescue Vessel, on August 31. The induction marks another important milestone in strengthening India’s underwater rescue and diving support capabilities.

Nipun has been designed to support specialised diving operations and assist in submarine rescue missions, enhancing the Navy’s ability to respond to emergencies at sea. Its induction will further strengthen India’s indigenous naval shipbuilding capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign platforms.

The vessel is part of the Navy’s ongoing efforts to modernise its fleet and develop advanced platforms through domestic design and manufacturing. The addition of Nipun is expected to provide greater operational flexibility and reinforce India’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defence production.
