Jhargram Police Intercept Two Cattle-Laden Vehicles on NH-49, Recover 45 Cattles

JHARGRAM : In a major crackdown against the illegal transportation of cattle, the Jhargram District Police, intercepted two cattle-laden vehicles on National Highway-49 near Guptamani on Tuesday and recovered 45 cattles.Police sources said the Jhargram police station received information early Tuesday morning about the movement of suspicious vehicles. Acting on the tip-off, police heightened vigilance and set up a special watch near Guptamani on National Highway-49.During the operation, police stopped and searched two vehicles and found a total of 45 cattle loaded inside.Preliminary investigations indicate that the cattle were loaded in the Bisui area of Odisha Mayurbhanj district and were being transported to Uluberia in West Bengal Howrah district. Police said the necessary documentation and other legal aspects regarding the transportation are currently being verified.The drivers were detained at the scene for questioning and subsequently arrested. Arrangements have been made to keep the recovered cattle in a safe location.According to the Jhargram District Police, continuous surveillance and special operations are being conducted to curb illegal activities in the district. Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Manav Singla (IPS), the district police are taking consistent action to ensure strict adherence to the law and prevent illegal activities.Police have now launched a detailed investigation into the matter. The probe aims to determine the circumstances under which the cattle were being transported and whether an organized gang or other individuals are involved. Officials stated that further legal action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation.
