Women Block Road Outside Kharagpur Municipality Over Annapurna Bhandar Benefits

Kharagpur,: Hundreds of women staged a protest outside the Kharagpur Municipality on Friday, alleging that they had been deprived of benefits under the Annapurna Bhandar scheme despite submitting applications multiple times. The protesters reportedly sat on the road near Jhapetapur, disrupting traffic and leaving buses, e-rickshaws and other vehicles stranded for some time. The women alleged that their names had not been included in the beneficiary list and said they were facing financial difficulties in supporting their families. They demanded immediate intervention by the authorities. Police reached the spot following the demonstration and worked to restore traffic movement. Protesters warned of intensified agitation if their demands remain unresolved.
