Ayushman Bharat Expanded to Include Widows and Persons with Disabilities in Delhi
News Mania Desk /26th February 2026

The Delhi government has expanded the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme to include beneficiaries of its widow and disability programmes, providing them access to comprehensive healthcare coverage.
Under this initiative, eligible individuals can now avail themselves of hospitalization, treatment, and related medical services under the national health insurance scheme, ensuring financial protection against high medical expenses. The move is expected to strengthen social safety nets and improve healthcare access for vulnerable populations, including widows and persons with disabilities who previously faced barriers in accessing advanced medical care.
Officials emphasized that the expansion aligns with the government’s goal of inclusive healthcare, aiming to reduce health inequities and ensure that all sections of society benefit from preventive and curative health services. The scheme will cover treatment costs across empanelled hospitals and enhance medical support for the newly added beneficiaries.
