Global Mining Summit 2024 inaugurated in Kolkata

Global Mining Summit (GMS) 2024 and 17th International Mining Machinery Exhibition (IMME) 2024 was inaugurated at Science City in Kolkata on 23rd October 2024. The flagship mining event is hosted by Confederation of Indian Industry ( CII ) . This summit cum exhibition is being organised from 23rd to 26th October 2024.
Theme of the Summit is “Viksit Bharat: Role of a Sustainable Mining Industry”.
In the period between April and November of 2023, West Bengal ‘s Manufacturing sector grew at 7.2 percent against the national manufacturing growth rate of 5.8 percent, said Mr Moloy Ghatak, Minister-in-Charge, Law Department, Government of West Bengal, at the summit.
Talking about the potential collaboration between India and Australia in mining of critical minerals, Ms Denise Eaton, Trade and Investment Commissioner Green, Economy South Asia, Austrade solicited for a holistic approach towards green economy and urged the industry to ensure a balance between productivity, safety and environment.
The summit deliberated on topics such as exploration, ease of doing business, the adoption of new technology, sustainable mining practices, and emerging opportunities in critical minerals and rare earth space and urban mining.
Australia is partner country & Odisha is partner state .
CII is organising the Summit in association with Ministry of Mines & Ministry of Steel of Government of India. The event supported by West Bengal Mineral Development Corporation. The Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturer’s Association (ICEMA) is the Sector Partner.
The event marks
international representation from 14 countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States .
Mining explore wealth below the ground and function as catalyst of growth of all other industry .
