Kripanath Mallah, the distinguished Lok Sabha MP from Assam’s Karimganj constituency, graced the Bijoya Sammelan 2025 hosted by Sreehatta Sammilani Delhi (SSD) on Sunday. The event, marked by warmth and camaraderie, brought together members of the Sreehatta-origin community residing across the National Capital Region (NCR).
SSD, a registered socio-cultural organisation with nearly seven decades of service since its establishment on April 16, 1958, continues to play a vital role in nurturing social bonds and preserving the cultural heritage of Sreehatta in Delhi.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Mallah commended the organisation for its sustained efforts in strengthening community ties among people from the Northeast settled in the capital.
“Social organisations like Sreehatta Sammilani have consistently supported their communities. Their relevance in today’s society remains as strong as ever,” he remarked.

Mallah was welcomed by Jaysankar Bhattacharjee, Advisor and former General Secretary of SSD, who highlighted the organisation’s longstanding contribution to cultural preservation and community service.
The event was further enriched by the presence of internationally acclaimed journalist Ratnajyoti Dutta, who attended as Guest of Honour and was felicitated by SSD President Bikramjit Purkayastha.
Special Guests included Delhi-based Northeast journalist D. K. Chauhan and Barak Valley social worker Panna Yadav, who were received by SSD General Secretary Bijit Chakraborty and Joint Secretary Amlan Purkayastha.
During the programme, Mallah also exchanged warm greetings with Bithika Dev, former President of Sreehatta Sammilani.
Members of the Guru Charan College (now Guru Charan University) Alumni Association, led by founder member Shubojit Debroy, were also prominently present, adding to the spirit of togetherness that defined the gathering.
