Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has recently taken a stand in defense of the Hindi film industry following critical comments by YouTuber and entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath. Kamath’s assertion that Bollywood is “not thriving” has sparked a debate, prompting Sanon to offer a strong counterpoint. According to her, the film industry is faring well, despite recent commercial challenges. Sanon attributes the current scrutiny to escalating expectations from audiences, noting that a box office collection of ₹100 crore is no longer considered impressive, which reflects a shift in viewer expectations rather than a decline in industry vitality.

In his podcast, Kamath highlighted that Bollywood faces significant difficulties today. He pointed out that it is increasingly challenging for talent to earn substantial amounts and for the industry to sustain the same level of employment and success it once enjoyed. Kamath suggested that the chances of a movie’s success have diminished over time.

Sanon, however, disagreed with Kamath’s viewpoint. The 34-year-old actress argued that the industry’s challenges should not be mistaken for its decline. She noted that while the benchmark for success has shifted, Bollywood is indeed bouncing back with renewed vigor. Reflecting on her own experiences, Sanon emphasized that the perception of Bollywood’s health must be viewed in the context of evolving market dynamics. She cited her recent films, “Crew” and “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” as examples of successful ventures, reinforcing her belief that Bollywood is far from failing.

Badshah, the renowned singer-rapper, supported Sanon’s stance during the same discussion. He concurred with her view that the film industry has adapted to its lean phase and is now navigating successfully. This sentiment underscores a broader recognition of Bollywood’s resilience and capacity to recover and innovate.

Sanon’s career trajectory serves as a testament to her perspective. Having started her acting journey with the Telugu film “1: Nenokkadine” and made her Bollywood debut in “Heropanti” in 2014, Sanon has navigated the industry without the advantage of a “godfather” figure. Despite initial frustrations, she feels a sense of achievement after a decade in the industry. She acknowledges that while it took time, her perseverance has paid off, allowing her to establish herself as a respected actor beyond mere stardom.

In addressing her personal financial security, Sanon revealed that despite coming from a middle-class background, she never felt undue pressure to earn money. Her family’s financial stability meant she could focus on her career without the burden of financial insecurity. Sanon’s candid reflection on her financial status highlights her gratitude and the privilege of choosing roles based on creative interests rather than financial necessity.

Looking ahead, Kriti Sanon is set to appear in “Do Patti” and “Housefull 5.” She will also take on a new role as a producer for “Do Patti,” marking a significant step in her evolving career. Her commitment to Bollywood and her articulate defense of the industry reflect her deep connection to and passion for Indian cinema.
