Last few days to update Aadhar card for free: A step by step guide
News Mania Desk/Piyal Chatterjee/5th September 2024
The Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number that acts as proof of identity and address, and it has become essential in recent years. It is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), and the Government of India recommends that individuals update their Aadhaar card every decade for revalidation.
The Indian government is encouraging all Aadhaar cardholders to refresh their information, especially since some cards were issued over ten years ago. As part of this effort, they are offering free updates until September 14.
Although the deadline has been extended several times, it remains unclear whether UIDAI will grant another extension. If your Aadhaar card was issued over 10 years ago and has not been updated, you can learn how to update it for free, bypassing the usual Rs 50 fee.
To update your Aadhaar card details at no cost,

- On the page that appears, enter your Aadhaar card number and the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the phone number linked to the card.
- After logging into the portal, check your existing identity and address details to see if they are still correct.
- In case you need to update your address or number, select the documents you want to submit from the drop-down menu and upload the required files.
- Once you have done that, review and submit your update request. You will then be issued a Service Request Number (SRN) that you can use to track the update progress.
Please remember that the file size must be under 2MB, and acceptable formats are JPEG, PNG, and PDF. The online portal is designated solely for updating Proof of Identity and Proof of Address.
