Over 45 schools in Delhi were targeted with bomb threats on Friday, causing panic and leading to the evacuation of students. This marked the fourth day of bomb threats aimed at more than 50 schools in the nation’s capital.
Simultaneously, 40 private schools across Bengaluru also received bomb threats. “I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive… You all deserve to suffer,” the threat email read.
Richmond Global School, Delhi International Public School, Maxfort Junior School, and Guru Nanak School in Pitampura were among those that received threatening emails, along with six schools in Dwarka and Rohini. Teams from the Delhi Police and fire department quickly arrived at the schools to conduct extensive search operations. Nonetheless, in the majority of schools, the threats turned out to be false alarms.
During the initial three days of this week, 11 schools and one college in Delhi received comparable threat emails.
Atishi, former Chief Minister and AAP leader who once led the Education department, criticized the BJP government for not ensuring “safety or security for our children”.
“More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through. The BJP controls all 4 engines of governance in Delhi, and is not yet able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking!” Atishi tweeted.
On Wednesday, Delhi witnessed a similar wave of bomb threats to schools across the national capital. However, nothing suspicious was found after the schools were thoroughly checked.
