News Mania Desk/Agnibeena Ghosh/18th July 2024

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has launched a new initiative called the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ aimed at supporting the state’s youth who have completed their 12th grade. Announced on Wednesday, this scheme promises a monthly stipend to help young job seekers during their apprenticeships.

Under the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana,’ students who have passed their 12th grade will receive Rs 6,000 per month. Those holding a diploma will get Rs 8,000 monthly, while graduates will be provided with Rs 10,000 each month. This financial support aims to ease the transition from education to employment, allowing young people to gain practical industry experience without financial strain.

The announcement comes amid the backdrop of the upcoming state assembly elections, with CM Shinde emphasizing the unprecedented nature of this scheme. “Some people said that ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ (for women) has been launched; what about ‘Ladka Bhau’ (beloved brother)? We are now announcing a scheme for Ladka Bhau… They will receive this stipend from the government during their on-job training in the industry,” Shinde stated to the media. He highlighted that this is the first time such a scheme has been implemented by the state government.

The Ladla Bhai Yojana closely mirrors the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, which was announced in the state budget assembly by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar last month. Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, eligible women aged 21 to 60 receive an allowance of Rs 1,500 per month from the state government. However, Shinde clarified that the Ladla Bhai Yojana is not exclusively for men, distinguishing it from the women-focused Ladki Bahin Yojana.

The initiative aims to provide young job seekers with apprenticeships in various industries, where they can gain valuable hands-on experience. “The state government will pay the stipend during the youth’s apprenticeship in the industry,” Shinde added. This scheme not only offers financial support but also ensures that young individuals receive practical training, enhancing their employability.

The launch of the Ladla Bhai Yojana is a significant step towards youth empowerment in Maharashtra. By providing financial aid during apprenticeships, the state government is addressing the gap between education and employment. This initiative is expected to benefit numerous young people across the state, helping them build a foundation for successful careers.

The announcement has sparked various reactions, with many viewing it as a strategic move ahead of the elections. The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment and promoting economic development. By investing in the younger generation, the Maharashtra government is taking proactive measures to ensure a brighter future for the state’s youth.

In conclusion, the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ is a pioneering scheme that promises to support Maharashtra’s youth during a critical phase of their career development. With its emphasis on financial assistance and practical training, the initiative is set to make a substantial impact on the lives of young job seekers. As the state gears up for the upcoming elections, the Ladla Bhai Yojana underscores the government’s dedication to youth empowerment and economic progress.
