Nazia Elahi Khan Confronts Lenskart Staff in Mumbai Amid Grooming Policy Row

21st April 2026

A fresh flashpoint in the ongoing Lenskart controversy emerged when activist Nazia Elahi Khan confronted a store manager at a Mumbai outlet over the alleged restriction on wearing tilak and sindoor. During the heated exchange, she was seen applying tilak on staff members, drawing attention to claims of religious bias in the company’s earlier grooming guidelines.
The incident comes amid widespread backlash over a viral internal document that reportedly discouraged visible religious symbols under a “neutral appearance” policy. Critics had accused the company of inconsistency and selective restrictions.
In response, Lenskart reiterated that it does not prohibit any religious or cultural symbols. The company clarified that the controversial document was outdated and not reflective of its current policies. It has since introduced a revised, inclusive style guide explicitly permitting all forms of religious expression, as it seeks to address concerns and restore public confidence.
