After being seen with a Dior purse worth more than Rs 2 lakh, spiritual speaker and musician Jaya Kishori received criticism from several online communities.
In a video that has gone viral and left viewers with many questions, the 29-year-old evangelist, who is known for living a non-materialistic lifestyle, was spotted at an airport with the designer “Dior Book Tote” personalized with her name.
In her public appearances, Kishori has continuously promoted a humble, grounded lifestyle. Given that she regularly mentions protecting nature, animal life, and leading a modest lifestyle in her messaging, her decision to carry the opulent tote has drawn criticism online.
Social media users slammed Kishori as the video surfaced online. A user said, “She teaches you non-materialism. So that you people can follow and she can extract materialism out of that,” while another added, “That’s why we need to check our speakers and choose only genuine ones. If one doesn’t follow what she preaches, then she’s not the right speaker.”
Additionally, users speculated that Kishori herself uploaded this video of herself at the airport and later removed it after receiving criticism. Some users questioned the discrepancy between her lifestyle and her lessons by pointing out the other upscale pieces she wore, such an expensive Rolex watch.Some commenters, however, defended her, saying things like, “So what, she is a kathavachak, not a sanyasi,” and “It is not a leather bag.”
