The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) Mumbai has announced an exciting opportunity for unemployed youth with the release of a recruitment notification for 2,424 apprentice positions across various workshops and units under the Central Railway. The vacancies are spread across several clusters, each offering a range of roles and training opportunities. In the Mumbai Cluster, there are positions available at various locations including the Carriage & Wagon (Coaching) at Wadi Bunder, the Kalyan and Kurla Diesel Sheds, and the Parel and Matunga Workshops. Specific openings include 258 slots at the Carriage & Wagon (Coaching) unit, 50 at Kalyan Diesel Shed, 60 at Kurla Diesel Shed, and 303 at Parel Workshop, among others.

The Bhusawal Cluster has openings at the Carriage & Wagon Depot, Electric Loco Shed, and Electric Locomotive Workshop, totaling 422 positions. The Nagpur Cluster features 48 vacancies at the Electric Loco Shed and 63 at the Carriage & Wagon Depot. In the Solapur Cluster, there are 55 openings at the Carriage & Wagon Depot and 21 at Khurduwadi Workshop. Finally, the Pune Cluster includes positions at the Carriage & Wagon Depot, Diesel Loco Shed, and Electric Loco Shed, with a total of 192 vacancies.

The available trades for these apprentice positions include Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Carpenter, Mechanic, Painter, Machinist, Sheet Metal Worker, Mechanic Machine Tools Maintenance, and Computer Operator & Program Assistant.

Candidates interested in applying must have completed their 10th grade with a minimum of 50% marks and should have an ITI certification in the relevant trade. The age limit for applicants is between 15 and 24 years as of July 15, 2024. An application fee of Rs 100 is required to apply.

The selection process will be based on marks obtained in class 10 and ITI, adherence to the reservation rules, document verification, and medical examinations. Selected candidates will undergo a one-year training program designed to provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary for their respective trades.
