News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 2nd June 2026

Bollywood star Salman Khan has sent a legal notice to the makers of the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, objecting to its content and promotional campaign. The move has intensified controversy around the project, which is reportedly based on events linked to the actor’s blackbuck poaching case and other widely publicised incidents from his life.

According to reports, Salman Khan’s legal team has demanded an immediate halt to the film’s promotion and release-related activities. The notice reportedly seeks the withdrawal of posters, teasers and other promotional material, while warning of further legal action if the filmmakers fail to comply with the demands.

The film is being produced by Amit Jani and directed by Bharat S. Shrinate. Marketed as a crime drama inspired by real-life events, the project has generated attention due to its alleged references to the 1998 blackbuck hunting case involving Salman Khan. Reports suggest that the storyline may also touch upon the ongoing tensions between the actor and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, making the subject matter particularly sensitive.

Responding to the legal notice, producer Amit Jani said the filmmakers would not be intimidated and intended to continue with the project. He maintained that the film is based on publicly available information and defended the team’s decision to proceed with its production and promotion.

The dispute has sparked considerable discussion within the film industry and among fans, with many closely watching the developments. Legal experts believe the matter could eventually reach the courts if both sides fail to arrive at a resolution.

The controversy comes at a crucial stage for the film, with its teaser launch reportedly scheduled in the coming weeks. As the legal battle unfolds, the future of Kala Hiran remains uncertain. Industry observers say the outcome could have significant implications for filmmakers producing projects inspired by real-life personalities and events.
