In a gripping moment during Day 3 of the fifth Test between India and England at The Oval, Mohammed Siraj delivered a sensational last-ball yorker to dismiss Zak Crawley, triggering excitement among Indian fans. However, one notable reaction came not from the field but from the broadcast studio. Former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik, part of the Sky Sports commentary panel, was caught on camera visibly struggling to contain his emotions as Crawley’s stumps were rattled.

Karthik, seated beside fellow commentator Mel Jones, was seen tightly gripping the armrest of his chair and tapping his foot, clearly thrilled but professionally holding back his celebration mid-broadcast. The moment quickly went viral on social media, with fans praising his composure while silently rooting for his national side.

The delivery itself was a textbook yorker that pierced through Crawley’s defence, ending England’s opening stand at 50 and shifting momentum in India’s favour. England, set a challenging target of 374, now trails by 324 runs with two full days remaining in the match.

Reflecting on the dismissal, Karthik noted that Crawley seemed to be overthinking under pressure, leading to hesitation in footwork. He explained that the batter’s half-committed stride, likely stemming from nerves, made him vulnerable to Siraj’s pinpoint accuracy.

Earlier in the day, India posted a strong total backed by key contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja. England’s fielding woes, including multiple dropped catches, further helped India maintain control.

As India seeks to square the series at 2–2, the final two days promise high-intensity cricket. While Siraj’s performance was lauded, Karthik’s measured reaction offered a reminder of the emotional tightrope former players walk while wearing the broadcaster’s hat.
