Abhishek Banerjee Criticizes The BJP For Paresh Rawal’s Fish Remarks

Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), reacted to remarks made against Bengali by BJP MP Paresh Rawal and criticized Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in West Bengal, for failing to denounce Rawal’s remarks.

Paresh Rawal declared while running for the BJP in Gujarat: “Gas cylinders are pricey, but the cost will decrease. People will also find work. But what would happen if Bangladeshis and Rohingya migrants start settling nearby, like in Delhi? What are your plans for gas cylinders? Fish is cooked for the Bengalis?”

In response to Rawal’s clarification, Abhishek Banerjee remarked, “By Bengali, according to Paresh Rawal, he means Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. He makes fun of Bengalis who eat fish. More than 2 lakh fishermen live in East Midnapore, the fishing center, and the BJP is insulting us. Are you Rohingya?”

Md Salim, the state secretary of the CPI(M) in West Bengal, reported Paresh Rawal to the police on December 2 for his remarks.
