TMC’s Madan Mitra In Soup After Identifying BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari And Dilip Ghosh In Ceremony For The Deceased

An incensed BJP has filed a complaint against TMC MLA Madan Mitra for conducting tarpan on the festival of Mahalaya, naming BJP central vice president Dilip Ghosh and West Bengal Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari. Indranil Dasgupta, the president of the BJP Mondal, filed a complaint against the MLA from the Kamarhati Assembly constituency on September 26 at the Bally Howrah Police Station.
The saffron party said that by mentioning the two BJP officials at the tarpan ritual, Mitra offended Hindu emotions. The process, according to the complaint letter, is performed after a person has passed away, and according to Hindu tradition, those who are still living cannot be named during the event. Even the pictures of Adhikari and Ghosh were decorated by Mitra.
According to custom, Mahalaya is also the day when people perform the ‘tarpan’ rite, in which they honor their ancestors. On the banks of the Ganges, tarpan is performed for a person’s deceased relatives.
Madan Mitra, a senior member of the Trinamool Congress, caused controversy by performing Tarpan for BJP officials Suvendu Adhikari and Dilip Ghosh. Additionally, he decorated images of Adhikari and Ghosh.
In an interview, Mitra predicted that the BJP would lose West Bengal’s panchayat elections.
Mitra even put garlands on the pictures of Suvendu Adhikari and Dilip Ghosh after selecting both BJP leaders for the rite.
Following this, West Bengal Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay criticized Mitra for playing the tarpan while holding a picture of Suvendu Adhikari. He declared that he opposed what Mitra has done to Mahalaya.
The Speaker asserted that Mitra committed the act in order to achieve publicity. According to Bandopadhyay, such actions are taken for publicity, and the media also reports on such instances.
