With the announcement of Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal, a movie made completely using artificial intelligence, for theatrical release, Vikramaditya Motwane’s long-standing worries about AI displacing creativity in filmmaking appear to be coming true. The director has publicly criticized it.

The AI-generated, “Made-In-AI” and “Made in India” motion feature about Lord Hanuman’s life was revealed on Tuesday by Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s Historyverse.

On Hanuman Jayanti 2026, the movie is scheduled to be released. The film’s creators claim that it would use AI to bring centuries-old tales to life, drawing inspiration from the Ramayana and ancient Puranic writings. AI will be used to create a visual extravaganza that is “intended to be appreciated as a communal experience in theaters.”

A group of more than fifty engineers are at the center of the project, and they are closely collaborating with literary and cultural experts to write the story. Trilok, an AI-powered band renowned for fusing modern rhythms with spiritual themes, will compose the soundtrack.

Vikramaditya called it out on Instagram Stories as soon as the news was out. He reaffirmed his concerns that creative workers in the entertainment sector would be replaced by AI.

“And so it begins… Who TF needs writers and directors when its ‘Made in AI’,” he wrote while re-posting the announcement on his handle.

Vikramaditya confessed that he looks at AI as a threat. He said, “I see AI as a threat. The threat is not from the creators using it. The threat is from the people with money wanting to use it to save more money for themselves. The threat comes from there. It’s about the people in power using it to be able to say, ‘I can use AI and then I will not hire X number of people for my job’, or ‘I can use AI and I can get rid of X number of people’.”
