Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune Faces Legal Scrutiny in Bengaluru Over Operating Hours

The manager of One8 Commune, a popular restaurant and pub co-owned by Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli, found themselves in legal trouble as Bengaluru police booked them for allegedly flouting permitted operating hours. An FIR has been filed at Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park police station following observations that the establishment continued to serve customers beyond the permissible time limit.
According to reports from News18, police officials conducting routine patrols noticed activity at the One8 Commune pub located on the top floor of Ratnam complex well past 1 am. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the pub was indeed serving customers at 1:20 am on July 6, exceeding the legally mandated closing hour.
The FIR accessed by the publication stated, “The One8 Commune pub at Kasturba Road was found serving customers at 1.20 AM on July 6, which is beyond the closing time.” This action follows similar enforcement measures taken against three other pubs in Bengaluru for violating closing hour regulations. In the city, pubs are permitted to operate until 1 am, after which they must cease all activities.
One8 Commune, which has garnered popularity since its launch in Delhi and Mumbai, expanded to Bengaluru in December last year. Co-owned by Virat Kohli, who has expressed a personal affinity for Bengaluru, referring to it as ‘close to his heart,’ the establishment quickly became a favorite among locals, particularly given its proximity to Cubbon Park. Its success prompted further expansion, with a subsequent launch in Hyderabad.
While One8 Commune continues to enjoy patronage for its ambiance and offerings, this incident underscores the importance of adhering to regulatory guidelines governing operational hours in public establishments.
