When Asked About His First Co-Star And Family Friend Vikram Gokhale, Sai Deodhar Said, “He Used To Pamper Me.”

In the cult Marathi movie Lapandav, which won a National Award, late actor Vikram Gokhale and Marathi star Sai Deodhar launched their respective careers (1993). Gokhale played the lead in the movie, which was directed for the first time by her mother Shrabani Deodhar. The Saara Akaash actor and Gokhale worked together once more on a Marathi play a few years later. However, the Deodhars and the Gokhales’ bond extends far beyond the world of film.

Deodhar spoke as Gokhale passed away on December 2 at Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre from multi-organ failure. She gave us a glimpse of Gokhale’s modest and everyday life while taking us down memory lane, despite the fact that he was an icon of Marathi cinema and an actor par excellence.
