Paresh Rawal Was Summoned By The Kolkata Police For Comments About Bengalis

The Kolkata Police have requested that actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal appear in connection with recent remarks he made about Bengalis during an election campaign in Gujarat.

The actor has been asked to appear on December 12th, according to police sources.

Md Salim, the state secretary of the CPI(M), lodged a complaint at a local Kolkata police station earlier last week. An investigation was subsequently opened. Leaders of the Trinamool party also denounced his remarks.

When speaking in Gujarati, Rawal said that gas cylinders will become less expensive after they become more expensive. According to him, if inflation rises, it will fall and more people will find work. But what if Bangladeshi Rohingyas begin to swarm the area, much like they did in Delhi? What will people do with gas cylinders, continued Rawal? For Bengalis, prepare fish.

However, Rawal later clarified his statement and apologized in response to a post.
