Kharagpur, West Bengal : In two separate incidents, alert and prompt action by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel helped avert serious mishaps involving passengers attempting to board moving trains at Midnapore and Santragachi Railway Stations.
In the first incident, on 20.05.2026 at about 11:35 hrs, Train No. 38816 (MDN–HWH Local) was departing from Platform No. 01 of Midnapore Railway Station when a male passenger aged about 50 years attempted to board the moving train. During the attempt, the passenger lost balance and was on the verge of being dragged along with the train. The on-duty RPF staff acted swiftly and safely pushed the passenger inside the coach, thereby saving his life and preventing a possible tragedy. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the station.
In another incident on the same day, Train No. 38056 (HLZ–HWH Galloping Local) arrived at Platform No. 07 of Santragachi Railway Station at about 18:09 hrs and departed at 18:10 hrs. During departure, a female passenger attempted to board the moving train but lost balance and fell on the platform, posing a serious risk of slipping into the gap between the train and the platform. Observing the situation, the on-duty RPF staff immediately responded and rescued the passenger safely in time. Fortunately, the passenger remained unhurt. She was later counseled regarding the dangers of boarding moving trains and subsequently continued her journey safely along with her family members.
