Protests in Distant Lands: Noida Women Rally Against R.G. Kar Hospital Tragedy

Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, where a young female junior doctor was brutally gang-raped and murdered, women from across India have voiced their outrage. Even in the far-flung city of Greater Noida West, this tragedy has sparked a protest that echoes the sentiments of women everywhere. Last night, at around 11:30 PM, nearly 50 women of varying ages gathered in Gaur City 1 to participate in a protest march. Their voices resonated with anger and despair, demanding justice for the victim and the immediate arrest and severe punishment of the perpetrators.
Sudhriti Dutta, one of the participants in the march, expressed her deep concern. As the mother of a medical student herself, she shared her fears for her daughter’s safety in the aftermath of this horrifying incident. Dutta’s words were heavy with worry, reflecting the anxiety that every parent feels when such a brutal crime occurs. She emphasized that, despite years of independence, women in India still struggle to feel truly free, as their safety remains an ongoing concern.

These words underscored the deep-rooted issues in society that perpetuate such violence against women.
