News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 30th October 2026
Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro could transform professional workflows across several industries, offering new ways to interact with creative and technical applications. The latest laptop combines a touchscreen display with powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, targeting professionals in fields ranging from music production and filmmaking to architecture and fashion design.
The new PROLED XDR display features tandem OLED technology, a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch variants, the laptop introduces touch-based controls alongside the traditional keyboard and trackpad.
Musicians and music producers could use the touchscreen to operate virtual instruments, keyboards and drum pads through applications such as Logic Pro. Similarly, video editors and filmmakers can benefit from direct screen interaction for selecting clips, adjusting colours and managing editing timelines.
For photographers, touchscreen controls offer easier image retouching, masking and editing. App developers can also test applications using familiar gestures such as swiping, pinching and scrolling, helping them identify interface issues.
The device could also prove useful in education, where teachers can use it as a digital whiteboard to explain diagrams and annotate lessons. Architects and real estate professionals may find touch controls useful for examining floor plans, modifying building designs and exploring three-dimensional models.
In the fashion industry, designers and 3D artists could sketch clothing, adjust digital patterns and visualise virtual outfits directly on the display. Game developers may benefit from the laptop’s graphics capabilities and touchscreen controls when testing games and manipulating virtual environments. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 Pro starts at ₹3,49,900 in India, with availability scheduled for November 9, 2026. With its combination of advanced display technology, powerful processors and touch functionality, Apple is seeking to expand the possibilities of professional laptop computing.
