Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested 10 alleged terror overground workers (OGWs) in connection with a suspected terror financing network operating in Shopian district. The arrests were made as part of an investigation into the alleged financial and logistical support provided to terrorist organisations and their associates.

According to officials, the investigation uncovered suspicious financial transactions carried out through various online payment platforms. Police examined the money trail and identified multiple layers of transactions allegedly used to channel funds to individuals associated with terrorist networks.

Investigators suspect that the arrested individuals were involved in facilitating financial assistance and providing logistical support to terrorist operatives. The probe is also examining possible connections between the accused and individuals associated with banned terrorist organisations.

Officials said the investigation revealed a wider network involving people allegedly maintaining links with terrorists and their associates lodged in different prisons. The authorities are attempting to establish how funds were transferred, who received the money and whether additional individuals were involved in the suspected operation.

The probe is also looking into alleged connections with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy organisation, The Resistance Front (TRF). Investigators are examining whether the financial network was being used to support terrorist activities and maintain communication between operatives and their associates. Police are analysing digital and financial evidence to establish the extent of the alleged network. Further investigation is underway to identify other suspects, trace additional transactions and determine the roles played by those arrested.

Overground workers are individuals who allegedly provide support to terrorist organisations without necessarily participating directly in armed attacks. Their activities can include arranging finances, providing shelter, facilitating communication and supplying logistical assistance. The arrests form part of the continuing security crackdown on terror financing and support networks in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities have been focusing on identifying financial channels and local networks suspected of assisting terrorist groups.
