Dr. Sprints For 45 Minutes, Leaving His Car In The Traffic, To Perform Urgent Surgery
Even for small distances, Bengaluru’s notoriously heavy traffic can make you wait for hours.
But recently, a video on Twitter that showed a doctor making an unexpected choice to save a patient’s life went viral. For many people, it is proving to be an uplifting story.
Dr. Govind Nandakumar, a gastrointestinal surgeon at Manipal Hospitals, was about to do surgery when the incident happened on August 30. After that, he became stuck in heavy traffic. After a short while, the doctor realized he was running behind schedule and had to take rapid action because a laparoscopic gallbladder surgery was urgently needed.
According to Govind, who stated in an interview that the last stretch usually takes 10 minutes, the additional 45 minutes will be needed because of the gridlock.
He went on to say that he commuted daily from central Bangalore to Sarjapur, where Manipal Hospitals are located. He arrived home in plenty of time for the operation. As soon as he arrived at the hospital, his team was ready to start the procedure. He made the quick decision to leave the car with the driver after noticing the heavy traffic and to head straight for the hospital.
As soon as Dr. Nandakumar entered the operating room, the team he was leading was prepared to put the patient to sleep and got to work. The procedure started right away. The procedure proceeded smoothly, and the patient received a speedy hospital discharge.
People think that the city’s excessive rain, which caused considerable traffic in the city, is what caused waterlogging and traffic congestion. Several footages of stalled cars on a busy street went viral.
