Mehbooba Mufti Claims Police Prevented Her From Traveling To Pattan; Police Deny Her Claim Of Being Under House Arrest

Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the PDP and a former chief minister, said on October 5 that she was under house arrest, but J&K police denied this and said she was free to travel to the Baramulla district’s Pattan neighborhood in north Kashmir.

Mehbooba claimed that the police had prevented her from traveling to Pattan for a worker’s wedding while Amit Shah, the Union home minister, was in the region.

She is placed under house arrest because she merely wanted to travel to Pattan for a coworker’s wedding, whereas HM is marching around Kashmir beating the drums of normalcy. She tweeted and uploaded a photo of the shut front gate, saying, “If an ex-fundamental CM’s rights can be suspended so simply, one can’t even understand the hardship of a commoner.”

In response to the accusation, Srinagar police stated that she had not been placed under any travel restrictions and that the image she posted was of the inside.

In response to the police assertion, the PDP leader stated on Twitter that the Baramulla SP had informed her the night before that she would not be allowed to travel to Pattan.

@JmuKmrPolice are currently lying through their teeth despite having themselves closed her gates from the inside. She expressed sadness that law enforcement organizations are so blatantly attempting to hide their trails.

She was allowed to leave, the Srinagar police retorted, adding that PCR Kashmir had already given an official message to that effect.
