Rahul Gandhi Was Requested To Ask Me To Resign From The Race For Congress President: Shashi Tharoor
Shashi Tharoor stated that he has never expected major leaders to back him and still does not anticipate it today, but he also needs everyone’s support.
According to Shashi Tharoor, a Thiruvananthapuram MP who has launched an aggressive run for the party’s top position, certain party leaders contacted senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to request Shashi Tharoor’s candidacy be withdrawn on October 4.
According to Mr. Tharoor, who is in Kerala for the election campaign, Mr. Gandhi stated that he would not ask the former to resign since a contest would be advantageous to the grand old party.
He stated earlier in the day that he never expected powerful people to support him and still does not expect it now, but he also needs everyone’s support.
The declaration followed Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K. Sudhakaran’s public endorsement of seasoned politician Mallikarjun Kharge for the position of party leader.
Mr. Tharoor added that he would not abandon people who have up to this point supported him in this endeavor by withdrawing from the race.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) presidents, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders, heads of frontal organizations, chiefs of departments, cells, and all official spokespersons are not permitted to campaign for or against candidates who are running for office, according to the election circular released by the party on October 3.
On October 17, voting will take place in the presidential election for Congress. On October 19, the vote-counting process will begin, and the results will be announced that same day.
The poll will be attended by around 9,000 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) representatives.
