AIMIM UP Leader Arrested For Inflammatory Remarks
An FIR has been filed against the Muslim politician after Shaukat Ali, the Uttar Pradesh state president of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), made some contentious comments about those who endanger Muslims having mistresses and unmarried children.
“They continue to target Muslims… Sometimes they claim that Muslims have more children, and other times they discuss us getting married twice or three times. We appreciate both wives if we get married twice. But nobody knows that you have had three mistresses in addition to your one marriage. You don’t respect them”, the AIMIM leader stated at a gathering in Sambhal, UP, on October 15. A video of the speech has since gone viral.
Later, he stressed that his remarks weren’t directed at any one faith, but rather at those who engage in such behavior.
At the event, Ali also stated that Muslims were responsible for uplifting people in addition to their group, using the example of Mughal ruler Akbar marrying Jodha Bai.
“Worms and insects like you have been under our control for 832 years, and now that you are posing a threat to us, you used to do Ji huzoori with your hands folded in the rear.” Whose secularism surpasses ours? Jodha Bai and Akbar got married. Along with us, we are raising your people. But you face a challenge. According to one sadhu, Muslims ought to be executed. Why? Are we similar to onions, radishes, or carrots? Ali stated.
In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the hijab, he stated that the Constitution, not Hindutva, will determine what people wear in this nation.
Sambhal Police have filed a case against Ali for allegedly making a disrespectful and derogatory remark about the Hindu community, according to Chakresh Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP) for Sambhal.
SP Mishra claims that cases have been filed under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 153A (promoting enmity between various groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, language, etc.), 295A (deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings), and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and that additional investigations are in progress. Asaduddin Owaisi, the AIMIM’s chief, has not yet issued an official remark on the subject.
