The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana webpage went live on Saturday at 8 am, marking the start of the city government’s Rs 2,500 monthly cash aid program, and women started lining up at registration camps all around Delhi. According to data released by the administration, 1,083 registrations had been finished by noon. The Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi government has established camps to assist applicants in determining their eligibility, completing personal and family information forms, and uploading the necessary paperwork for the program.
Queues began to form early in the morning, and volunteers and officials at the centers were seen assisting women with the online process. Each registration was initially taking between 25 to 30 minutes, according to camp officials. They stated that as volunteers grew more accustomed to the interface and candidates started coming in with full sets of documentation, the time taken was anticipated to decrease.
After submitting their applications, a few ladies reported that the entire procedure took thirty to forty-five minutes. According to officials, the time varied based on whether or not applicants had all the necessary information and documentation on hand.
Verifying eligibility, providing Aadhaar, family, and bank information, uploading supporting documentation, and submitting the finished application are all part of the registration procedure The Chief Minister said the scheme was aimed at helping women become financially stronger and move forward independently.
She also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for Delhi’s development and said every initiative taken by the government was a means of serving the people . Ms Gupta said the money belonged to the women of Delhi and that public funds were being used for public welfare.
She described the payment plan, stating that the help will be split into two portions. A card would be used to access one component, while a fixed deposit would be used for the other.
According to reports, the authorised payment methods enable recipients to deposit Rs 1,500 into a fixed or recurring account and receive Rs 1,000 via a digital currency wallet. The full Rs 2,500 may also be placed in an RD or FD by beneficiaries. After applications are reviewed and approved, the government plans to release the first installment around Raksha Bandhan on August 28.
