Adoption of BRICS New Delhi Declaration shows world’s trust in India: PM Modi

The unanimous ratification of the New Delhi Declaration at the 2026 BRICS Summit, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a significant indication of the world’s increasing confidence in India. On his birthday on Thursday, PM Modi made the statements during the opening of SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi.

After nocturnal talks to break the geopolitical impasse between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, India was able to obtain the unanimous acceptance of the New Delhi Declaration at the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Today is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.

In reference to India’s economic performance, PM Modi stated that despite a difficult time, the country’s quarterly GDP report, which was published in September, showed 7.8% growth. “India’s quarterly GDP report was released in September itself, and even during this challenging period, India achieved 7.8 per cent growth,” PM Modi said.

In the same time frame, he added, India’s sovereign rating was raised by Japan’s credit rating agency, which he described as a noteworthy development that occurred after about three decades, or roughly 35 years. “On one hand, India’s economy is growing. On the other, the world’s trust in India is also increasing,” PM Modi said.

He cited the just finished BRICS Summit as an additional illustration of this increasing worldwide trust in India. After India hosted the gathering in New Delhi, the summit came to an end three days ago. Other events that occurred in September were also noted by PM Modi. He added that within the same time period, about 3,000 km of India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor came online.

“In this very month of September, exactly 10 days ago, the Global FinTech Fest took place in Mumbai. In it, discussions were held on inclusive finance through Agentic AI, tokenisation, and quantum technology,” he said. Reiterating India’s economic growth, PM Modi said, “In this same time frame, in September itself, India’s quarterly GDP report was released. Even in this challenging period, India achieved and demonstrated a growth rate of 7.8%.”

He claimed that the confluence of Vishwakarma Jayanti and the introduction of the PM Vishwakarma plan illustrates how 21st-century technology and vision are combined with India’s centuries-old history of creation and construction.

“This is the fifth edition of SEMICON India taking place. I extend a warm welcome to all of you. To the guests who have arrived from abroad, I extend a special welcome to India. Friends, today is also the day of Vishwakarma Jayanti. I extend my warmest greetings on Vishwakarma Jayanti to all fellow countrymen,” he said.

The Yashobhoomi Convention Center in Delhi will host the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026, a three-day national convention on the nation’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem with the subject “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem,” from September 17 to 19.
