IIT Kharagpur, IRIMEE Sign 5-Year MoU for Vande Bharat Training

Kharagpur: IIT Kharagpur has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE), Jamalpur, to enhance the technical capabilities of Indian Railways officials in advanced rolling stock technologies. The collaboration will offer specialised residential training on electrical safety, traction and propulsion systems of Vande Bharat trains and three-phase MEMU/EMU. The MoU was signed by IRIMEE Dean Prem Prakash and IIT Kharagpur Dean of Outreach Prof. Swagata Dasgupta. Coordinated by IIT Kharagpur’s Centre for Railway Research, the programmes will combine expert lectures, laboratory sessions, hands-on training and field visits. The curriculum will cover TCMS, traction motors, converters, diagnostics, braking, condition monitoring and reliability engineering, supporting safer and more indigenous railway technologies.
