Gyalshing, September 25: Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered severe landslides in Rimbi village of West Sikkim’s Yuksom-Tashiding area, damaging houses and government structures and disrupting road connectivity. The Yuksom-Rimbi belt recorded 224.6 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, according to officials. At least 32 houses and four government quarters are facing the threat of further damage from mud, rocks and debrisNo casualties have been reported so far, while several families have been evacuated to safer locations and relief centres. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang described the situation as serious and directed authorities to remain on high alert, closely monitor developments and undertake necessary safety and relief measures.
