Air India has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on alcohol and drug use by pilots, stressing strict compliance with aviation safety regulations. The airline said pilots are subject to mandatory pre-flight breathalyser tests and other prescribed checks. In a September 6 incident in Zurich, a pilot was immediately removed from operating duties after Air India received a preliminary breathalyser test report from local authorities. The pilot was subsequently referred for further medical evaluation.
