Bengaluru Teen’s Kidnap and Murder: Two Accused Arrested After Police Encounter

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 1st August 2025

In a chilling case that has left the city in shock, police arrested two men accused of kidnapping and murdering a 13-year-old boy, Nishchith, a Class 8 student from Christ School. The arrests followed a dramatic late-night encounter in the Bannerghatta area, during which both suspects were shot in the legs as they attempted to attack police officers.

Nishchith had gone missing on July 30 after leaving home for tuition classes in Arakere.

When he failed to return by night, his parents filed a missing complaint with the Hulimavu police. The next day, the family received a ransom call demanding ₹5 lakh. Despite complying with the demands, the boy was allegedly killed the same night, as the kidnappers feared police involvement.

On July 31, Nishchith’s half-burnt, mutilated body was found in a forested area near Kaggalipura, triggering a massive manhunt. Based on leads, police tracked down the accused—Gurumurthy and Gopalakrishna. During the arrest, the duo attacked officers with weapons, prompting police to open fire in self-defense. Both men are now in custody and receiving treatment for their injuries.

Gurumurthy, identified as the main conspirator, was previously employed as a spare driver by the victim’s family and was familiar with their routine and home. His insider knowledge is believed to have played a key role in the crime.

The incident has sparked outrage across Bengaluru, raising serious concerns over child safety and the misuse of trust by domestic staff. Police continue to investigate the case, exploring whether additional individuals were involved and what motivated the brutal murder. Senior officials have promised a swift and thorough probe to deliver justice to the grieving family.
