India Condemns Pakistan’s Airstrikes on Afghanistan, Calls Them ‘Blatant Act of Aggression’

India has strongly condemned Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on Afghanistan, describing them as a “blatant act of aggression” and an assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty. New Delhi said the attacks, which reportedly caused civilian casualties, reflected a continuing pattern of reckless behaviour that threatens regional peace and stability.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Pakistan’s military action amounted to an unacceptable violation of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity. India expressed concern over reports that the strikes resulted in the deaths and injuries of civilians, including women and children, and urged respect for international law and the sovereignty of all nations.
The MEA said the latest developments demonstrated Pakistan’s repeated attempts to externalise its internal challenges through military action beyond its borders. It added that such actions undermine regional security and are inconsistent with efforts to promote peace and stability in South Asia. India also reaffirmed its support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The condemnation follows Pakistan’s airstrikes on multiple locations in eastern Afghanistan, which Islamabad said targeted militant hideouts linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistani authorities maintained that the operation was launched in response to recent militant attacks inside Pakistan and claimed that several militants were killed during the strikes.
However, the Taliban-led administration in Afghanistan rejected Pakistan’s claims, alleging that the attacks hit civilian areas and caused significant loss of life. Afghan authorities described the strikes as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and warned that such actions would further aggravate tensions between the two neighbours. Reports from Afghanistan said dozens of civilians were killed or injured in the bombardment.
India’s response comes amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over cross-border militancy and security concerns. New Delhi reiterated that respect for sovereignty and adherence to international norms remain essential for ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region, while urging all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further escalate the situation.
