The Indian Navy marked a significant milestone with the launch of DSC A 23, the fourth vessel under the Diving Support Craft (DSC) project, on April 19, 2026, at Titagarh. The ship was ceremonially launched by Deepa Sivakumar in the presence of Vice Admiral B Sivakumar.
The event was conducted with full naval traditions, attended by senior officials from the Indian Navy and Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, which is undertaking the construction of these specialised vessels.

Measuring 30 metres in length with an approximate displacement of 380 tonnes, the catamaran-hull craft is designed to provide superior stability, enhanced deck space, and improved sea-keeping, making it ideal for diving operations in coastal waters and harbours. The vessel has been built in compliance with regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping, with design validation through advanced testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory.
With over 70% indigenous content, the project reinforces the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives while strengthening the Navy’s capabilities in underwater operations and coastal deployment.
