The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season is set to commence on September 13, 2024, with an exciting clash between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Mumbai City FC. This match will take place at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, marking a thrilling start to the new season. The fixture is a rematch of the previous season’s final, where Mumbai City FC clinched the title, and will set the tone for what promises to be an electrifying season.
The opening weekend will feature a double-header on September 14, 2024. The first match of the day will see Chennaiyin FC travel to Odisha FC, kicking off at 5:00 PM IST. The second match will follow with Bengaluru FC facing East Bengal FC at 7:30 PM IST. On September 15, Kerala Blasters FC will host Punjab FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, adding to the excitement of the opening weekend.
Hyderabad FC will commence their campaign with an away fixture against Bengaluru FC on September 19, 2024. However, the start of Hyderabad FC’s season is dependent on the clearance of the AIFF Club Licensing, as noted in the ISL’s media release.
This season marks a notable expansion of the ISL, now featuring 13 teams with the addition of Mohammedan Sporting Club. Mohammedan Sporting Club earned their spot in the ISL by finishing atop the I-League, bringing a fresh dynamic to the league. They will begin their ISL journey with a match against NorthEast United FC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on September 16, 2024.
With the entry of Mohammedan Sporting Club, the ISL 2024-25 season will showcase the three most renowned football clubs from Kolkata: Mohun Bagan Super Giant, East Bengal FC, and the newly promoted Mohammedan Sporting Club.
