Odissi Guru and Choreographer Ms.Monalisa Ghosh: an ambassador of Odissi in Europe
Odissi Dance originated as an offering to Lord Jagannath or Almighty. Deep inner feelings and Grace blends with vibrant rhythmic footsteps, following the grammar from ancient Natyashastra makes Odissi Dance an outstanding Indian Classical Dance Style.
Veteran Exponent, Guru and Choreographer Ms Monalisa Ghosh.(Founder of Kalajyoti Gurukul in South 24Paraganas,West Bengal) will continue her yearly performances and workshops in Europe from end of April till mid May 2023.
Her tour began with intensive Odissi dance workshop in Vienna,Austria from 28th April, till 3rd May.
Monalisa Ghosh is a true ambassador spreading the hue of Indian traditional culture in Western world with her own effort since 3 decades.
Her effort in spreading the therapeutic value of Indian classical dance is evident as she receives regular invitation to interact in old age homes in Germany and Austria.
Apart from conducting workshop with the advanced students in Odissi, Monalisa will conduct workshop with the school children in Theater am Faden, Stuttgart.
In 1991 she received the opportunity to present her first Odissi recital in Theater am Faden, headed by veteran and famous puppet player Frau Helga Brehme, and since 3 decades her performances are highly acclaimed for classicism, Lyricism and spiritual expressions.
On 6th and 7th of May, Monalisa Ghosh has been invited to perform in this marvelous Theater.
She has excelled with her unique technique as a teacher – which includes therapeutic values with flexibility movements, training of rhythmic foot works harmonized with melody, interesting use of hand gestures in expression, and composition on ancient Sanskrit Sloka with poses from the Sculptures found on the walls of temples of Orissa.
