Veteran Tamil filmmaker, actor, screenwriter and producer K. Bhagyaraj passed away on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest, marking the end of an illustrious career that spanned more than four decades. He was 73. His demise has left the Tamil film industry in mourning, with actors, directors, political leaders and fans paying heartfelt tributes to one of cinema’s most influential storytellers.
Bhagyaraj reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Chennai. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His family later confirmed the news, prompting an outpouring of condolences from across the country.
Widely known as the “Screenplay King” of Tamil cinema, Bhagyaraj earned a reputation for crafting engaging stories centred on middle-class families, romance and social issues.
