“Educated Women Have Double Standards,” Claims Jaya Bachchan. “Women Are Their Own Worst Enemies.”
Bollywood star Jaya Bachchan is known for being frank with her opinions. The doyenne recently discussed women being their own worst enemies while speaking with her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda on the latter’s podcast and her daughter Shweta Bachchan.
Jaya cut Navya off and stated, “Educated women too have double standards, which is really terrible. Sons should be raised the same way families educate their daughters. Women are their own worst adversaries, even though I sometimes want to say it but don’t feel comfortable saying it.”
However, as Shweta stated earlier in the episode, “Women need to be nicer to other women and more supportive of other women.” Her mother is not very kind to her. In response, Jaya Bachchan said, “I’m really polite to Navya. I constantly support and advocate for other women. Let’s avoid discussing the mother and daughter.”
Shweta continued, “there is a Madeleine K. Albright statement that reads, ‘There is a specific place in hell for women who don’t aid other women’. Mother, let’s start practicing charity at home!” Jaya said, “Ohh shut up,” to this.
Shweta is the same as Jaya, Navya interjected, adding. Jaya responded that Shweta views Navya as her “punching bag” in response to this. “I am saying the wrong things at the wrong time and at the wrong place,” continued Navya. “I resemble a deer caught in a headlight. Even if it wasn’t my fault and I was present, it would still be like, She’s here, so just…”
She believes her daughter “doesn’t know when to be quiet, she doesn’t know when someone is in a foul mood,” though, according to Shweta.
On Navya’s podcast What The Hell Navya, Jaya, Shweta, and Navya have been discussing their opinions on various topics. One crown and many shoes were the subjects of this podcast’s ninth installment.
