Hindusthan Art & Music Society, Kolkata in collaboration with Indian High Commission, Malaysia and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Indian Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur presented 32nd Global Competition & Festival of Indian Art & Culture on 4th of February’23 at the Temple of Fine Arts, Shatanand Auditorium, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. It is a 12hour constant competition & festival of Indian Art & Culture. In the morning session, the event was inaugurated with the lamp lightning by Ms Amrita Dash (Consulate General, Indian High Commission), Society’s secretary Pt Prosenjit Poddar, Odissi exponent Guru Gajendra Panda, Kathak exponent Guru Madhumita Roy & other dignitaries. It was followed by an opening song by Ms Rosy Mukherjee.
After the successful conclusion of the Inauguration by the dignified personalities, the competition of Indian Art & Culture started in which numerous competitors (approx. 105) from different states of India took part in different subjects in a sole motive to upheld of the essence of Indian Art & Culture in abroad.
In the evening, after the successful completion of the competition, some of the guest performances were presented in which the a group classical dance was performed by Assam Pragati Sanskritik Sanstha. Following to it, Guru Madhumita Roy along with her disciple Ms Shreya Bhattacharya presented a spontaneous kathak item in which they included Guru Vandana in remembrance of the birth Anniversary of kathak guru Pt Birju Maharaj and later it was concluded by Tarana in Teentaal (an item including Bols & Parans). Later it was concluded by a creative group dance by Rosy’s Creation.
The award session of the program presented some of the dignified personalities in which Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred to Guru Thavamalar Gunaratnam, Guru Vatsala Shivadas, Guru Radha Gopal Shetty for their outstanding contribution of Indian Classical Dance in Malaysia & Swami Vivekananda Award to Sri Dhammaratana of Buddha Mahavihara, Yudhishthira Award to Datuk Murugesan Sinnandavar Gandharva Award to Eminent Sitarist Samuel J. Dass & Saraswatti Samman to Sri Uthaya Shankar. The awards were conferred by the Deputy High Commission Subhashini Jayaraman. Through her speech, she appreciated the initiative of HAMS & told that she will be always beside this organization for these efforts in future.
On completion of the award session, vocal recital by Bidushi Sunita Tikare & later it was followed by Ms Sohini Ghosh whose vocal recital made the audience speechless. Odissi performance by Guru Gajendra Panda made the audience glued to their seats. In Jagannath Dev’s Bhajan “Mann Udarron” Shree Panda, Gaj Udarron and through the presentation Draupadi Bostrohoron leaves the audience spellbound which has written by an Oriya author Upendra Bhakto. Up-next Bharatanatyam performance by Guru Baladeva Chandrasekhar which was also very appreciated. It was followed by a group dance presentation by Nrityabasa Prerona which was conducted by eminent Odissi dance artiste Amrita Das. Their performance based on God Sri Ram’s Bhajan was truly unprecedented. Specially Amrita Das’s act and dance performance leaves the audience speechless. Next presentation was a group dance presentation which was conducted by Jagannath Kala Kendra Odisha. Up-next Bharatnatyam dance presentation by Sushri Ananya Kanon Malaysia and the Lasya Academy Malaysia presented a concluded Bharatanatyam performance under the guidance of artiste Dr. Guruvayur Usha Dorai.
From 10am to 9pm after the conclusion of a successful event, Indian Cultural Centre’s director Ramaiya and HAMS’s secretary Pt. Prosenjit Poddar both conducted the India’s national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” which was performed by all artists and audiences and this is how the 32nd Bharat Sanskriti Yatra comes to an end.
